Zuyi is a 2022 China International Postdoctoral Exchange (Talent-Introduction) Programme Fellow based at the School of Social Development and Public Policy, Beijing Normal University. Her research focuses on the nature of and strategies, in particular evidence-based parenting interventions, to address violence against children with and without disabilities.
Zuyi is a Disability Research Fellow within the Global Parenting Initiative, leading the development, evaluation and dissemination of disability-inclusive human-digital playful parenting resources. She is also the Principal Investigator of Parenting for Lifelong Health (PLH) ParentText Adaptation in China. She was previously involved in the COVID-19 Playful Parenting Emergency Response (COPPER) and the Parenting for Lifelong Health Scale-Up of Parenting Evaluation Research (SUPER) Study as a research assistant.
Zuyi was a Swire Scholar at the University of Oxford. She completed her D.Phil. and M.Phil. (with distinction) in Social Intervention and Policy Evaluation at DSPI under the supervision of Professor Jane Barlow and Dr Jamie Lachman. Her DPhil thesis involved a systematic review of parenting programmes for Chinese families of children with developmental disabilities and a mixed-methods evaluation of a short-term intensive parent training programme delivered within the context of routine services for families of young autistic children in China. Prior to joining Oxford, Zuyi had her MSW from Columbia University and worked as a full-time social worker in the YAI/National Institute for People with Disabilities, in partnership with the New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities, providing clinical services to families of children with complex behavioural and mental health needs.
