Victoria Tan is a doctoral student in the Social Intervention & Policy Evaluation stream, working under the supervision of Professor Aaron Reeves. She is interested in the intersections between race/ism, social policy, and the political economy of health. Her doctoral research examines the drivers and consequences of political polarization (specifically affective polarization) in Canada and the US.
Prior to joining DSPI, she obtained her Master of Science in Health Policy at the University of Toronto. Her master’s thesis explored the health impacts of the Great Recession from a population health perspective. She also obtained her Honours Bachelor of Science in Global Health at the University of Toronto.
As her research interests have evolved into a combination of social epidemiology and political science, she would be happy to discuss any ideas/projects related to: structural drivers of health and social inequalities (e.g., social & health policy, race/ism), political polarization especially in the Canadian context, and political behaviour among the Asian diaspora in Canada, US, & Britain.
