Nina Acharya is a doctoral student in the Social Intervention & Policy Evaluation stream, working under the supervision of Professor Aaron Reeves. Her work explores the politics of the global health aid system, calling attention to the ways in which aid is legitimized and disbursed.
Prior to joining the Department, Nina completed a BSc in Human Biology, Health and Society at Cornell University. Her research focused on childhood nutrition in under-resourced settings. Following the completion of her degree, Nina began working for the Global Health and Nutrition Bureau at Global Affairs Canada, where she was exposed to the political aspects of technical health interventions.
In order to study this further, she completed her MPhil in Development Studies at the Oxford Department of International Development. Her thesis examined the politics of the COVAX Facility – the international vaccine sharing initiative for COVID-19.
She currently hopes to pursue a career at the intersection of government policy and academia.
