Chloe is a climate scientist whose research focuses on the impacts of extreme heat and other types of extreme weather on society and policy and interventions to reduce these impacts. In addition, she researches climate change and health and focuses on the health and wellbeing of women and children. Chloe has over 10 years of experience in programming for data analytics. In addition, she is a science communicator and enjoys public engagement having spoken to over 100 media organisations about extreme weather events and highlighting the risk of heat in the UK and Globally. She is interested in collaborations on extreme heat, compound hazards, child and women health, early warning systems and policy interventions. Â
Prior to joining the department Chloe has worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and the Wegener Centre at the University of Graz, Austria. She has worked as a Research Analyst at the European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasting (ECMWF), developing their global thermal comfort weather data and forecasting. She was also a Research Assistant on the Lancet Countdown for Climate and Health for a short time in working group 1. Â
Chloe has also worked as a Science Engagement Manager for the Royal Meteorological Society and a Department Communications Officer at the University of Reading. In addition, Chloe has consulted and advised many UN and international organisations including the WMO, WHO, World Bank and UNICEF on the use of heat metrics, heat early warning systems and heat action planning. Â
